Longan is a tropical fruiting tree in the Soapberry family (Sapindaceae). Its round, sweet, translucent, juicy berries are one of the favorite fruits in Vietnam, China, Thailand and Philippines.
Dimocarpus longan Lour. Other vernacular names for longan include lam-yai(ลำ ไย), leng-keng(Malaysia and Indonesia), kyetmouk(Myanmar), mien (Cambodia), lamnhai, namnhai(Laos), and longan (Vietnam).
